Quality, Confidence and Community
These days it seems people have a lot of questions about their food. How was it grown? What’s in it? Where did it come from?
Foodlink, and our network of farms and food businesses, want you to have the facts on the food you choose for your family. Consider our brand an invitation to get involved.
In Waterloo Region, Buy Local! Buy Fresh! has come to represent food that was crafted for you by your farming neighbour. Food that is good for you. Food that is thousands of kilometres fresher. Food that ultimately sustains our community.
Buy Local! Buy Fresh! is a connection to truly local food in our community. The Buy Local! Buy Fresh! brand identifies food products that originate on farms affiliated with Foodlink and have appeared in the Buy Local! Buy Fresh! map. The brand follows the food off the farm and the logo now commonly appears at farmers’ markets, fine retailers and restaurants. Thanks to Foodlink, you don’t have to go to the farm to know if it’s local. Look for the Buy Local! Buy Fresh! logo and eat quality food with confidence.
Co-branding and Affiliated Programs
The Buy Local! Buy Fresh! brand also extends to products that are grown for and marketed by the Elmira Produce Auction Cooperative (EPAC). EPAC draws produce from more than 250 family farms within 75 kilometre radius of Elmira Ontario. The auction is guided by a group of members from the Old Order Mennonite community (many of whom are also listed on the Buy Local! Buy Fresh! maps in Waterloo and Wellington) and is a close partner of Foodlink. Produce marketed via EPAC can be traced back to the exact farm thanks to a permanent, non-transferable grower number that is required in all packaging and monitored in each sale.
Buy Local! Buy Fresh! is also used (under license) by farms and business that participate in buy local campaigns in the counties of Wellington, Grey and Bruce, Huron and Perth, Chatham-Kent, Hamilton, Oxford, Brant, Simcoe and Rainy River District.
Making Connections Coast to Coast!
Foodlink is excited to announce that the communities of Cowichan Valley (Vancouver Island) and the Avalon (Newfoundland) have sought our support in building their own local food campaigns. The Buy Local! Buy Fresh! brand and program support have been extended to their network of farm partners and businesses.
