Tasty Tom’s on Whyte

Always my favorite place for breakfast or lunch. Service is always friendly and food is good and comes fast. The special touches are their home-made ketchup, and a small cup of fruits (usually a slice of melon, a slice of orange and a few grapes)…which comes with each plate. My go-to dish is their breakfast schnitzel: a large piece of pork schnitzel, and two eggs and home fries (not french fries) and toast. I actually prefer the schnitzel at Tasty Tom (with a panko type dry-bread crust) to the “famous” schnitzel at Bistro Praha, where the breading always come detached from the pork cutlet. Not a fancy place. Just a neighborhood cafe. Another breakfast item I like is not on their menu: a chicken breast – egg sandwich! It’s actually a piece of grilled chicken (not re-formed) with scrambled egg. They serve it occasionally as special breakfast but you can ask for it. Their garlic mushroom burger is also my go-to burger. In my opinion nobody else makes garlic mushroom burger as tasty as Tasty Tom.
