This has to have been my 3rd or 4th visit to this restaurant. I always go for the Portuguese Chicken . I like it spicy and they do it right, not overly spicy. My friend and I shared a bottle of house white wine (…quite good) . The chicken platter comes with fries, and the chef now fries them a bit less, I liked the new cooking time as it did not dry out the potatoes, but left a more FF texture and taste. Congrats to the Chef for his change. My meal also came with a salad , good but I am not much of a salad eater. I shall be back to visit and eat next time I am this great city .
Being from Portuguese background, I can tell that the food is really delicious. Make sure you try the cod (bacalhau). Excellent service, true Portuguese hospitality. Desserts (natas) are to die for!
We went for dinner on a cold winter night. The restaurant is quite small and there were not too many tables for 4 that were not in the draft of the door. We sat near the kitchen, but unfortunately, that was also near the bathroom,…so we were subjected at times to unpleasant smells. I had the cod fritters as an appetizer: there were excelent but I was puzzled that they were served with a dash of piri-piri sauce. I would have expected some lemon wedges or a mayo based sauce. I had the grilled squid as the main course and while it was well cooked, it lacked acidity. My companions enjoyed their chicken and sardines. Service was a bit harried. It is a nice neighbourhood restaurant but I would not go out of my way to have dinner there.
A return visit This has to have been my 4 or 5th visit to this restaurant. I always visit this restaurant on my numerous annual visits to Montreal ! I always go for the Portuguese Chicken .
