Chuggy’s Tap & Grill

Every time I visit the Hamilon area from Ottawa, I make sure I drop by Chuggy’s for a meal. I usually have the daily special with whatever soup of the day as its always delicious. Service is outstanding. Mature ladies who know their way around…the tables. The owner usually drops by to say hello which is a nice touch and makes you feel special as a customer. Since it is a sports bar you can bet the Burgers will not disappoint. Burgers were my regular fare until I started going for the daily specials. Parking on the lot can be a challenge at certain times.Almost forgot great value for your $ here.

First time there, must be popular as place was packed. Large selection of pub food including a few specials. Wings, burgers, fries, we all had something different and were all relatively satisfied. Huge portions. Service fast, atmosphere noisy, prices reasonable. Will go again!

i was really looking forward to stopping here when i read all the great reviews. while i agree the staff was friendly, the food was reasonable, and the portions were big, i just felt the food quality suffered. the burger – frozen patty, crispy chicken…sandwich – frozen manufactured patty, wings – tasted like presidents choice or m&M frozen breaded wings. overall the restaurant had a great local vibe, was a traditional green and light wood Irish pub, but to think they aren’t making a homemade burger or chicken patty – disappointing. Shelly did tell me they are simply too busy to make homemade patties anymore since they sell 450 pounds of burgers a week? lol – hard to understand why – but that is what we were told. the thing that did impress me was the french fries – just like my granny used to make – even though they were a little under done (just like granny used to make) they were hand cut and not frozen – just a touch undercooked. overall i wasn’t impressed, but the place was jammed so it must cater to the taste of the locals in there. id love to come back and see a couple very simple menu overhauls like fresh made food that would bring this place to the top of list in the area – not to mention the profit increase of using homemade burgers over frozen patties from a place like Gordon’s food supply.

We were delightfully surprised at this place. The food was amazing and reasonably priced. The place is quite small so go early. We got there around 4:30 on a Tuesday and it was already crowded. We ordered a burger with fries and a western sandwich….Super yummy. Try it you’ll love it.

First time here for take out. Fish and chips were amazing. Will definitely come back to try other dishes.
