Established in 1963.
Back in 1963 a small delicatessen and butcher shop were opened in Brentwood Mall in northwest Calgary. The business changed hands a few times over the years and in 1982 the family purchased the business and so began Village Mall Deli (1982) Ltd. A faithful clientele developed who would shop for their weekly deli needs.
In 1986, the deli was rebuilt in a new location in the newly renovated Brentwood Village and added a café which was called Kaffee Stube. In 1994 the business was given to the next generation. That summer it was decided to add a gift shop to Village Mall Deli and the business grew which evolved into Edelweiss Village.
Over the course of the years the gift shop expanded and a decision was made to build a new home for the business at 1921 – 20th Avenue NW, Calgary, AB. The character and feeling of the building was dreamed up and created by the owners from memories of their visits overseas, as portrayed in the pictures on the website.

Lots to see here. I enjoy that. There’s jewelry, chachkies, and cuckoo clocks galore! The food is pretty good, but expensive IMO (considering it is microwaved and deli style). I enjoyed my visit – I felt like I was on a little holiday, haha. The seating area / restaurant is quite quaint and comfortable as well, nice place to peruse around and sit down for a chat.
At Edelweiss you’ve reached Shangri-La when you can purchase unique Brianna brand salad dressing…made in Brenham Texas…a foreign country to Canada.
Great place but all food is microwaved. And seems a little less fresh then I recall. Popular as ever.

This place is huge and offers everything from baked goods, meats, cold cuts, cheese and all sorts of european groceries, household goods, collectibles and gifts. They also have a deli attached, where you can grab lunch with lots of european food to choose from. The staff was very friendly and helpful, would totally go back again.
“””Always enjoy going here. Their food is tasty and reasonable. The store setting that surrounds the restaurant gives it character. The desserts are exceptionally good. Staff are hit and miss regarding service”
