January 2nd 2021 atc9:00 p.m. attended the Victoria and Shuter location to order a beet salad. When I arrived back to my hotel the beet salad smelled so badly I almost threw up because if so bad obviously the chef did not check to see…the quality and freshness of the beets on the menu. Unfortunately, I ate some the salad before I realise how bad it was. I IMMEDIATELY called the location and a lady name Kaleigh answered the phone. I explained to her how upset I was and disappointed . This young lady repeatedly apologise She apologized at least 4 times. She then ask me to return to the restaurant where she would replace my item as well as give me a full refund. She identified with my problem and said that she could only imagine how i felt and again she apologize 6 more times in my presence took back the old food. I TOLD HER IT WAS NOT HER FAULT AS SHE WAS ONLY THE SERVER. On behalf of the company, I felt that she took ownership of the problem. She did not even look at it… she trusted me. I told her I did not want any more food. She gave me a full refund without question and was adamant that she do something for me and offer me an additional salad or Apple pie. I wanted to pay for the pie bur she refused to take my money only saying I am so sorry…please.. this doesn’t happen and I already reported to my management and were no longer selling this beet salad anymore and again apologize. FRANS…THIS LADY KALEIGH JUST SAVED FROM A LAW SUIT. Im actually an area manager of a law from downtown Toronto. I was so impressed at the way she turned a bad situation into a positive one that not only was I am happy with the service by Kaleigh, I will now return to that location and buy more food because of the service and honesty and empathy that she showed towards me. This lady should be in management…not a server !!. This lady should be in customer service. We ordered takeout food twice from here during our stay at the Marriot Courtyard – all restaurants were closed for dining in due to Covid-19. Food is homestyle and was very good – great portions and not expensive at all – would recommend this place…for sure.

Fran’s is a diner/restaurant with a liquor license. Their menu is extensive (find it online) and goes beyond diner fare. Their prices are extremely reasonable, their food is excellent and all of their staff are nice, friendly, helpful and competent. 24 hour breakfast as well….Last but not least: They make espressos and lattes.
