Hy’s Steakhouse – Winnipeg

A little disappointed. Service was subpar. Food was underwhelming. We had a nice romantic dinner plan but got to sit near a loud table of 15 celebrating a work anniversary.

Service was fantastic and the food was incredible.

Both my husband and I were not feeling well after the lobster dinner, it as a little undercooked. Otherwise the dinner was good.

What an amazing night! From the fantastic service to the phenomenal food and drinks, wouldn’t have changed a thing!

The steaks were perfect. I ordered the cheese toast and creamed spinach because family and friends raved about them but I found them underwhelming. Everything else was delicious especially desserts. A little pricey but it was an excellent evening in part due to our server, Benjamin. He was engaging and knowledgeable with wine pairings and menu. A server was always available to us even though almost every table was occupied. The atmosphere at Hy’s was very nice, my favourite beverage, the old fashion, was perfectly mixed, and last but not least, they validate. Two thumbs up!

Our anniversary this year and last year were both at Hy’s. Both times we had to deal with obnoxiously loud people. Last year was someone two tables over. This year was a drunk male screaming at the Blue Jays game in the lounge. The GM did nothing on her own to settle him down. She waited until she was told it was disrupting to mention to him to keep the noise down. He was using the F bomb in a loud voice and we were a floor above him and across the restaurant. Not cool when dropping $400 on a meal for a special occasion. Our waiter made a covid excuse for the male which was ridiculous. Should have tipped him less. Won’t go back.

The main reason I choose Hy’s was for the oysters and that was not available. Disappointed due to a birthday was specifically wanting that. However service and ambianceand food otherwise was perfect

Anniversary manias!!!

Steak is always amazing and completely worth the price. Service is great

The service was impeccable! The food was great. As we first eat with our eyes, the plates could have looked more appealing instead of just ‘thrown’ together but overall, great dining experience.

Everything was absolutely fantastic. The french onion soup was served at a perfect temperature that prevented that mouth burning, the steaks were exactly as ordered, and dessert was amazing. The biggest standouts were the whiskey sour and the service itself. I feel bad not catching our server’s name but he was awesome. I also really love that everyone on the floor helps each other out.

Food was fantastic. Very nice restaruant, makes you feel like high class. Even though the food was so good our only complaint would be the price.

Steaks were good not great. Service was excellent and ambience was nice. Again for the money steaks were ok and very small amount of vegetables. Better value at Ray and Jerry’s or The Keg.

The food in relation to the price did not quite measure up. We eat steak often, and the pieces were not comparable. The crab was so limited, perhaps a tablespoon in total. Our eyes did not pop. Service was very good.

A favorite restaurant for my wife and me—drove up from Minneapolis and going to Hy’s was a main reason we did so.

We really enjoy Danny’s service. Cheese toast looks so ordinary but taste amazing. I love lobster with butter oil. It’s such a wonderful dinner for our anniversary. Thanks Hy’s.

Delicious food and attentive service.

Celebrating a friend’s birthday. The Caesar salad was fabulous! The rack of lamb was done to perfection. The Beef Wellington was delicious. Unfortunately there was no room for dessert. The service was 5 star! Lots of ambiance to celebrate any special occasion!

Classic Steakhouse. Food and service is great. Be prepared to back up the bank truck.

Amazing experience, cheese toast is a must! I’ll be back again.

Asked for 2 medium steaks, got a rare and a blue rare. Veg overcooked. Meagre fries and no plating whatsoever. Hollandaise was delicious, as were the desserts and the soup. Server spilled ketchup all over. No harm done there, but could have been messy. Servers were attentive and meals came out quickly.
