We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here at Quan Ju De.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here at Quan Ju De. Their signature dish, Peking Duck is unreal. It was done very well, and all the dishes were amazing. The drinks here are great too and the service was great. Jomar was our waiter and he…was excellent. I can’t wait to come back again soon!More

This was the one splurge fine dining we had in vancouver.

This was the one splurge fine dining we had in vancouver. the decor was beautiful, server was very attentive and provided good service. the food was very good as well. We order the famous duck, lobster rice soup, zha jian noodles, and foie gras. the…highlight was definitely the lobster rice soup. the aroma was amazing before it even arrived on the table. the soup was so creamy but not overpoweringly rich, with shrimp, scallops all added inside on top of the lobster. it was available in 2 sizes which we opted for the smaller size. in hindsight, i would probably go with the large size if I were to try again. all other dishes were above average, but noticably, the duck fell a bit short of expectation. Before our visit, we saw reviews about how people find the duck too lean. I agree with this opinion. I am not looking for an extremely fatty duck, but did feel that the duck offered at Quan Ju De, although large, was too lean where the meat can almost feel tough. I feel this could be an improvement the restaurant makes, but have also heard that their signature duck is lean to begin with. I’ve never had them in Beijing so I cannot confirm this particular point. Finally, the server complained to us about the kitchen and mentioned that the kitchen is chaotic because all the people that speaks English quit. I can understand that the restaurant may have a bit of struggle in terms of staff shortage due to COVID, however, I don’t think the server should comment about this to its customer. She could also improve on her serving as some of the food fell out of the bowl/plate when she was portioning them. For a fine dining restaurant charging high prices, my expectation would be much higher than a typical restaurant. I believe QJD has the potential to be great, but need to provide better training to its staff, and also consider making their dishces not just “great tasting”, but “unforgettable”.

We drive on Cambie all the time and we see this stunning and beautiful restaurant all the time.

We drive on Cambie all the time and we see this stunning and beautiful restaurant all the time. We finally decided to try it out! When you walk in, it’s absolutely stunning! Exquisitely decorated so high hopes that the food matched the decor. Their signature…dish is their Quan Ju De Beijing Duck which you need to order in advance. Make sure you do that! We started off with their crispy beef. It really is crispy (like a potato chip) but it’s beef. Not sure how they did that but it was quite good. Next was their sesame chicken. LOTS of sesame which were nicely roasted and complemented the chicken very nicely. Loved their wagyu beef noodles and their pea tip sprouts (my favourite veggie) which was almost my favourite. Now back to the duck! Unlike other shanghai restaurants, they carve all the meat and skin for you. It was beautifully cooked and they had all the accompaniments to make it a duck to remember. Just like in Beijing, they carve it tableside! If you like Beijing duck, you need to try this!More
