Four 60-ish adults — 7pm dinner reservation made by hotel concierge.

Four 60-ish adults — 7pm dinner reservation made by hotel concierge. We arrived at 6:50. Three parties that arrived after us were seated before we were. After being seated, we weren’t even approached by a waiter for 30 minutes. Ordered spring rolls, soup and 3…entrees. Food was brought one dish at a time. We didn’t get the last until 9:15pm — and it wasn’t what we ordered. Meanwhile, we watched tables around us arrive, eat several courses and leave before we did. An AWFUL experience. Do not go there!!More

Had about 10 dishes with a group of 10 people.

Had about 10 dishes with a group of 10 people. All the food it was served was great. Unlike other regular Chinese restaurants’ similar taste, each dish represents its own ingredients. Deep and sensitive taste. Great chef.

Fist impressions were good.
1.0.0

We were recommended to this restaurant by our hotel Fist impressions were good. However our waiter although efficient was not very friendly. We felt rushed ordering our meals. We made 3 choices of different dishes to share. The first dish came and waited patiently for…the other 2. After about 5 minutes we asked our waiter where the other 2 were and he said they were coming. They arrived 5 minutes later by which time the first meal brought out was cold. When we told the waiter that we would have preferred eating all 3 meals together he said we should have stated when ordering that we wanted them together! There was no apology and the cold meal spoilt the rest for us.

We arrived for lunch (with reservations) and were seated quickly.

We arrived for lunch (with reservations) and were seated quickly. We did have a Cantonese speaking guest with us, who is an expert in Dim Sum so he did all the ordering for us. I may have been a bit intimidated if left up my…own! The food was delicious and plentiful! I am so grateful for having had the experience.

As a tourist from Hong Kong, I really know what is meant by Cantonese (Hong Kong) cuisine.

As a tourist from Hong Kong, I really know what is meant by Cantonese (Hong Kong) cuisine. And I would say Kirin is serving authentic Hong Kong style seafood. Even better than many upscale Chinese restaurants in Hong Kong. Our first visit was for the…king crab, we ordered one king crab with three differeny preparations – steam with garlic, stir-fried with chilli, and crab congee. Every single dish was perfectly made and the crab was so fresh that traditional HK style steaming with garlic is enough to bring out the taste and umami of the seafood itself. We decided to revisit before heading to YVR airport in the evening. We had the abalone promotional menu. Again, every single dish was perfectly prepared. The abalone was huge and tender. Waiters were efficient, clearing our plates promptly for crab shells. Sam Wong, in particular, was very friendly and even gave us suggestions for touring around. In Kirin, we found the long lost taste of an old HK style seafood restaurant. We all miss the good old days of Hong Kong and somehow we found the good old taste here.

Our family come here every year during our stay in Vancouver before we go to whistler for skiing holiday. Food used to be good…however, they served us an appetizer platter that is not fresh, ice cold Peking duck with only a few pieces of skin…on it (pictured here without us even touching it)… We paid our bill without eating a thing… I asked my children why they did not say a word that they did not like the food… my younger son told me that the manager (Andrew) kept pointing fingers at me when I told him that the duck was cold… and he was scared because the manager looked so mean ….We returned to our hotel and had a fantastic meal at the Market by Jean George…

ZERO stars.
1.0.0

ZERO stars. I ordered takeout for Chinese New Year eve days prior, and the restaurant staff informed me to pick up at 5:30pm. We arrived at 5:30 pm but had to wait over 2 hours for our food, on Chinese New Year eve! I saw…at least 30 people who were also waiting to pick up their orders, people were lining up and waiting on the stairway, at the bar area, at the cash register, in front of the kitchen entrance. I overheard a few people saying that the restaurant staff told them that they had LOST THEIR ORDER SLIPS. The restaurant staff were very evasive and tried their best to ignore the waiting customers/answer any questions. I made numerous attempts to ask the staff about my order and they would either pretend they did not hear me and walk right past me or answer me “i’ll check” and then disappear and never come back with an answer. Their phone was ringing off the hook for hours and no one was picking it up. Not one staff explained what was going on or whether the waiting customers will even get their food that night. What a nightmare. I saw that the tables who were dining in had no dishes served on their table for over an hour. Some of them got up and left. It is absolutely unacceptable that they would subject their customers to this sort of ridiculous situation on Chinese New Year eve! Why promise a pick up time only to subject your customers to HOURS of WAITING with NO EXPLANATION/APOLOGY/SOLUTION on the most important Chinese celebration????? The worst part? Food was mediocre at best.
