Go for the pizza, it’s made with a homemade sauce and is a Greek style pizza. Love it!! We went with a group of 10 people and they do take reservations.
Walked in and sat down. The server came over with menus and asked for drink orders. Quick and efficient! The ambiance resembles something out of the 70s or possibly the 80s. No nonsense, no white tablecloths, no candles, no shining tableware or sparkling wine glasses….That is not what this restaurant is about. This is true Mom and Pop with a mixture of Greek or Italian food, just plain wholesome and tasty food. I ordered a 7 ounce sirloin, rare with a side of spaghetti. It came with a delicious side salad which was served before the main course and a large piece of garlic toast. Very good. The other two members of my party had Greek food, chicken kabobs with Greek rice and Greek potatoes, a Greek salad and satziki with pita bread. Their plates like mine were overflowing. They liked it very much. Would I go back? Of course, the prices were low and the food was great!More
Our food was so oily and our water glasses dirty…the waitress licked her fingers when serving our food … so gross!
Visited this restaurant with my sister and our babies and have never been more disappointed. We had 2 strollers and were seated towards the other side of the restaurant. We were getting rude stares from one of the waitresses and didn’t think too much of…it at first. In a bit we realized that we should have just left. In the middle of our meal we were approached by one of the waitresses who told us that there was a table of 5 she wanted to seat so we should move. Me and my sister were shocked and were like are you serious. Us in the middle of eating and with babies and she wants us to move?? It was seriously shocking. After that we weren’t approached to ask of we needed anything for a long while. If your restaurant is not comfortable with babies of strollers than you should just say to begin with and not treat mothers and babies that way as it’s really disrespectful. Me and my sister have been to a lot of restaurants, and quite a few fancy ones with our babies and strollers and have always been treated respectfully. We do not need to go to a restaurant like this to be treated with such disrespect. Both waitresses, Jenny and Trisha were really rude and because of them we will never ever return. My sister lives a block away and it’s really sad, but their super rude and disrespectful service has turned us off. There was no owner or manager at the restaurant at the time to hear about our horrendous experience. Anyone out there with babies, this restaurant is not the place for you so spare yourself the horrendous grief!More
I was invited to the Neighbours Restaurant & Pizza House after I was asked what sort of food I would like to eat, only a few weeks ago. I mentioned that I had not tried any Italian food while visiting Vancouver this last trip. That…night. I was the guest at a very popular & crowded restaurant where every table was full! I do not know whether my hosts reserved ahead of time or it was sheer luck or by coincidence that we had a lovely table with a view by the window on this Friday night? My meal was extraordinary and the waitress was great! My roasted shoulder of lamb was beautifully prepared! I shall look forward of returning again in the near future!More
Finding comfort food could be a challenge and during the past few months of social distancing and quarantine, we were glad to hear Neighbour’s was still open for take out. Like most restaurants during COVID, they were adhering to the no dining-in policy but still…kept delivery and take out open. I’ve been here many times before for their fabulous pizzas and pasta dishes but have not been for over 5 years. We called in an order of 2 lasagna specials and 2 souvlakis (one bed, one chicken). Upon arriving to grab our order, we had to wait outside as there was line up of other patrons picking up their food (a good sign when there is a line up outside). A nice lady (owners wife?) called to the kitchen and bags came out with our order, I paid using a CC and it was nice to see they used a new sandwich bag to allow you to punch in your code without touching the number pad….small things that show they care for their customers and themselves. Kudos. Neighbours has been around for a very long time. The reason being they offer great food at reasonable prices and always friendly. I hope they will be around for a while longer so I can enjoy a few more of their pizza creation!More
We were in the mood for pizza and actually dined here. We did takeout several times. They had a great selection of combo pizzas including vegetarian. We liked the fact that the crust wasn’t too crispy. Rather tasty. There are 3 sizes to choose from…- small, medium, and large. The medium was plentiful for 2 people. If you enjoy leftover pizzas, I highly recommend the large. I saw another table that had split their pizza order into two choices which we’ll need to do that next time. In addition to pizza, there’s a decent selection of Greek and pasta dishes. We’ll be back to try the other dishes. Even though we came on a week day, the place was hopping busy.
Needs some time before it is up to expectations. Red snapper, a favourite, was served with the serving dish half full of water. Prawn slouvaki, also a favourite, was overcooked with the prawns stuck to the skewer and salad covered by the rice. While we…were compensated with a free dessert,, it did not make up for the poor preparation of the meal. We will return to this favourite restaurant of ours but not for a few more months.
