About
Often regarded as one of the world’s healthiest cuisines, Lebanese food combines the sophistication and subtleties of European cuisines with the exotic ingredients of the Middle and Far East. Here at Nuba, we offer authentic lebanese cuisine in harmony and rhythm with modern times. We seek out the freshest ingredients— organic and local when available—and handpick them daily. A large portion of our menu items are vegan. All meats are halal, non-medicated, and hormone free. Food and juices are made to order, on the spot. Original recipes and ingredients have been passed down through several generations, and sincerely nurtured. While the cornerstones of the menu remain unchanged for over a century, many recipes have evolved through time and travel, into a beautiful balance of traditional and contemporary cuisine. The spirit of tradition runs deep at Nuba but not at the expense of our desire to provide our guests with a new and exciting dining experience.
I’m a carnivore and often struggle finding a plate at vegetarian restaurants. Nuba was a welcome fusion of vegan and meat meals. My friend had the brisket stew with turmeric mashed potatoes. He enjoyed them but didn’t rave. I had the chicken skewers with a…side of seasonal roasted veg. The veg was actual vegetables and not frozen. They were beautiful and tasty with the chicken skewers. The chicken was flavourful and perfectly cooked. Was recommended by a kind person at the Indigenous shop across the street. Thanks!More
It is very expensive for what you get! Severe was pushing us to order from the set menu which was very expensive … so we had to ask two times for menu! and what we got for the price…. Not that exiting…
We went there for dinner and have eaten Lebanese food many times and this one was the best ever!We started with a dish shared for two or more with all different dips and salads with pita to dip. Just delightful! Then we also had the…continuation of this dinner for two or more ,with many different vegetarian things on it, all of which were delicious .The cauliflower was just amazing and the salads and all the vegetable things on the plate were just delightful and very flavourful. We also had lamb skewer cooked to perfection. My husband had the chicken dish, so juicy and yummy. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend.
The food is the greatest. The service attentive, and friendly. But — ummmm — this resto is in the old Orestes premises. Time for a serious update, folks. . . the kits vegans will make it worth your while. . . just saying.
Came by on a Friday night during Dine Out Vancouver in a group of four. First off, I loved the room and the ambience. Our server came by right away and took our drink orders, so off to a great start. And nice that they…had a local IPA on draught. It went downhill from there. It took a while for our server to return to take our dinner order. I opted for the trio of dips to start, with the chicken for the main and the rice pudding for dessert. The trio of dips were the star of the meal and I enjoyed all three: humus, egg plant and carrot. We were only a few minutes into our appetizers, when they brought out three of the four mains. A wee bit odd as we were all still eating our starters…and not anywhere close to finishing them. We made the most of it and the persons in our group began to eat both courses together. Unfortunately my main was not brought out. After twice enquiring on the status of my entree, the chicken was served 20 minutes later, after the rest of our group had finished their mains. No apology or explanation from the staff. The chicken was overcooked, dry and had no taste. The rice was bland and not memorable. Our desserts were brought out together (yeah) after we had to flag down a server to enquire if we could get our desserts now. Rice pudding is one of my favourite desserts but this was surprisingly also very bland. I have had good rice pudding and this rice pudding was not good. The positives of the meal were the presentation of all three dishes and the taste of the trio of dips. I normally do not breakdown my reviews in separate ratings, but felt compelled, to justify my 2 star rating: Room/Ambience: 5/5 Food Presentation: 4/5 Food Taste: 1/5 Service: 1/5 With the multiple issues with the food and service, it was not a positive food experience and I can not recommend Nuba.
We just came back from Middle East about 10 days ago but someone wanted to eat in this restaurant tonight so we went anyways. Despite the not too friendly service and the decor which can be refurbished, some of the food items are actually quite…genuine to Middle East taste. We had the La Feast to share and the three hummus choices are very tasty together with the pita which was not bad. The cauliflower was also yummy. We also ordered a lamb dish from the Mains menu but it came out looking more like an appetiser. Not sure if we would return though.
I have eaten in every country around the Mediterranean. I have never had a meal this poorly prepared, presented and this valueless. Itvwas supposed to be Lebanese or Mediterranean food. The floor appeared well trodden or messy. Server brought most in the party a menu….I ordered lamb sirloin. Some of the meat was edible but high gristle content required extra heavy chewing. Who puts warm lamb on a cold plate? By the third piece of meat the lamb was cold. I slipped the plate off the table a bit and felt the underside. STONE COLD. There were no condiments on the table. No salt nor pepper. Water was cool but not cold. My glass had a small white thing in it like a grain of rice. . The unattractive plate contained 9 potato fingers, a lamb sirloin about 1 inch by 4 inches in diameter sliced on the bias, and a very small pile of arugula with 5 halves of grape tomato. Dressing was tasteless . After asking for bread I received 3 slices of a small pita; no dip. The others in our party received small plates of food with tiny portions. This was dinner !! It was the first time I met one of the guests so I did not want to openly complain. I left a 2 cent tip. The service was worse than brutal (as described in another review). The server reflected limited knowledge of wines and menu and offered no help. When serving or retrieving plates the server reach across diners rather than serving from the left or right side. When I told the server of the over charge for an item not received, the item was placed on another’s bill. There was a limited selection of domestic wines. I did get the gist of an Italian wine special but had difficulty hearing the server over the noise at that time. The “dinner” cost $30. I chose not to have wine, coffee or dessert. My recommendations are for the owner to send the cook and servers to cooking and serving school. This was the worst “Lebanese” meal I have eaten since my first visit to Lebanon in 1967 and the worst meal of lamb in over 70 years of eating lamb. Don’t go people……don’t go. WaterMore
Thanks to our Covid-19 self isolation, dinners we’re getting downright tiresome. So we gambled on takeout. Nuba was a welcome change in meals. Food was excellent, servings generous, food hot. We’ll go this route again…and try others in the neighbourhood for some variety. Stay safe…all!More
What a crowded, noisy restaurant! We could barely hear each other across the table and I needed to point to my menu selections as the waiter couldn’t hear me. Despite the noise and craziness, our food was delivered after a reasonable wait. The pita and…three dips were quite enjoyable and the cauliflower was delicious.
Had an amazing time here at Nuba. The food is incredible and the staff are so nice. I definitely recommend coming here and trying this place out! We will definitely be back soon. Everything we ordered was amazing.
