We’ve been to The Capitol Bar a few times since they opened. Derek is a wonderful guy who is friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Love the vibe here! There were 8 of us who dropped in for some drinks and food before heading to another event…nearby. The bar was hopping and even with that, Derek served us quickly. We basically ordered all the appies on the menu to share. Everything was delicious! Highly recommended for cocktails, beer, wine and great food. All demographics welcome!More
Stopped to catch up with a friend. Drinks and fries. Hip. Artsy. Vintage. We could be in New York City or San Francisco!
First time but not last. Great food, great cocktails and craft beers. Opens at 5pm. Place quickly fills up. We were there for a very early dinner. Live music later in the evening. Love the decor. Lots of ambience. Funky and warm.
WHen it comes to “off the beaten track” community bars you can’t get much better than The Capitol. It’s out of the way, in the unfashionable end of the city, but is a little oasis of comfort and welcoming. Small, cosy, with a homely decor,…the staff are welcoming, the drink selection wide and almost hipster, and the food selection is away from your usual pub fare. We chose a couple of different local IPAs and ciders, and the smorgasboard – meats, cheeses and happiness is the description and it was by far the best charcuterie board I’ve had in many years. Coupled with the “to die for” mushroom toast, it was an excellent evening. We were there the whole evening and saw the clientele change from the after work, early evening crowd to the nighttime socializing crowd with a huge energy and buzz, worthy of a great little neighboourhood gem of a place. Definitely worth a visit.
