The Velvet Glove – The Fairmont Winnipeg

Waiter was very nice and friendly. The chef was very accommodating for the dietary restrictions that our table had. We went to celebrate a birthday with friends and family.

Service by Jasmine was exceptional. The entire Christmas supper was delicious.

The service and food were amazing. The only negative was the wine pairing was a little too generous with portions and that combined with the room temperature made for some dizziness by desert. It’s a unusual thing to critique but that combination left me a little off by the end of the evening. . . Live and learn :-). I will know for next time to only drink half of what is offered. That small issue aside it was one of the best meal I’ve had at the Velvet Glove. A perfect way to bring in the new year.

We had the most amazing food experience for dinner with the Chef’s Tasting Open Food Table. Every dish was perfect. The BBQ scallop Hot Dog was unbelievable. It played on all your senses smell, texture, taste, visual. The wine pairings with the meal were also so perfect, thank you Carly Durston. If you want a special dinner that you will never forget, I would recommend having the Chef’s Daniel Davyduke and Tim Palmer plan a meal for you! Best dinner ever.

The service at VG was impeccable. Very friendly and helpful staff. We had dinner and breakfast and enjoyed both meals. The food and drinks were delicious. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. Will definitely go back.

We had a great brunch! Eggs Benedict and Mushrooms on Toast. Ceasear/Bloody Mary cart is great. Service is very fast and friendly!

Lovely fine dining experience, from the moment we were seated until the moment we left.

We had brunch at the velvet glove. The food was excellent. Each brunch dish was well presented and tasted excellent. The Caesar brunch cart is an added benefit! Our waiter was friendly, but he had too many tables to oversee and thus, service was slow. Overall it was great and we will definitely return for brunch.

Great as always! I would highly recommend The Velvet Glove restaurant for your next discreet, quiet, comfortable, fine dining experience. We asked for a quiet area for 6 and they were able to accommodate us, no problem. It will continue to be our ‘go to’ place for power breakfasts. Give it a try, you will be happy you did.

Took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we had a table in a private area. It was very romantic. Our server was great, food was amazing, and the place is beautiful! Would definitely recommend!

Sunday brunch is not to be missed! The prices are totally affordable, there’s something for everyone on the menu and the Caesar Cart is such a fun treat. I can’t say enough good things about it.

We arrived at 7:15 pm to a virtually empty restaurant. It remained that way until we left a 10:30 pm. In spit of the lack of customers, we found that it took an interminable amount of time to receive each portion of our meal. I understand leisurely dining, but three and a half hours is ridiculous. In addition, I had prearranged with the hotel to have the chef present a special 50th anniversary gift to my wife under a sterling silver server as if it were her dessert. Likely due to the fact that the meal had taken so long, the gift was presented by our waitress with the dessert, under a shabby kitchen warming cover. The chef probably had gone home. It really spoiled the effect that I had worked hard to set up. The food was good, but not up to the standard I have come to expect from the Velvet Glove.

Food and service were excellent. It seems they have new chairs since I last visited. I found them less than comfortable unfortunately. . . Stylish though. The chairs aside I very much enjoyed my breakfast ?

We loved it. We were celebrating a special occasion and the staff made us feel so special. Had the salmon and the ribeye, both were exceptional. Such a great evening.

We celebrated our anniversary at the Velvet Glove and everything was fantastic! The food was delicious and beautifully plated (highly recommend the pork belly) and the servings were very generous. Our waiter, Cam, was absolutely fantastic, and found the answer to any question we asked him. To top off the wonderful experience, we were given complimentary bubbly and dessert in honour of our anniversary! My husband and I had an amazing night out away from the kids, and we can’t wait to go back!

My Daughter and I both ordered the Thanksgiving Day special and instead of a real turkey we got a Butterball rolled turkey and the mashed potatoes were like water. The people next to us complained about the same thing and may have been compensated. For $176.00 for 2 people this was a rip off and when I got back to the office on Tuesday I was embarrassed to tell fellow staff members what I thought. My Daughter is in Marketing and liver in Vancouver and came to visit and couldn’t believe what we were served. I frequent restaurants in the city every day at work and we probable could of got a better meal at a greasy spoon restaurant. Yes I was shocked that it had a 5 star on the internet. We have pictures of the meal and am wonder in if anyone from the Fairmount was going to contact me.

We ate here for our 5 year anniversary and we had a great experience. we really appreciate the little touch of rose petals on our table. the staffs were very friendly and very attentive to our needs. when the server noticed that my fiance didn’t like the drink that he ordered, she gave us a drink on the house even when we insisted that we were okay with the drink. the food was very delicious. the dessert was really good too and we got it for free as well. Will definitely come back here again and recommend to other friends.
